
2005-2006 Scholarship Application Form GCO Scholarship Fund Garden Club of Ohio is proud of its scholarship program, which offers financial aid to students and promotes study in Agriculture Education, Horticulture (inc. Fruit Science/Environmental/Communications), Floriculture, Landscape Design, Botany, Biology, Plant Pathology/Science, Forestry, Agronomy, Environmental Concerns (Management: Environmental. Horticulture Resource/Environmental Behavior, etc). Economics,, Environmental Conservation (inc. Engineering, Law, etc) , City (Rural & Urban) Planning, Wildlife Science, Habitat or Forest/Systems Ecology, Land Management and/or allied subjects. Applicants must be majoring in one of these fields of study and a resident of the state of OHIO. Last year Scholarship Awards for the Academic year 2003-2004 are $21,300. We had 26 applicants and awarded 17 scholarships. The students were from all of the districts in Ohio. Ten are at Ohio State majoring in Landscape Architecture and Horticulture-Crop Science. Two are at Ohio State ATI in Floral-Design/Marketing and, one at Miami University in Botany, one Michigan State in Horticulture/Bio Tech., one at Catawba College in Environmental Science, one at Duke in Landscape Architecture, one at Ohio University in Environmental Planning/Bio Math, one at Cornell in Design and Architecture/Urban Planning, and one at the University of Cincinnati in Design and Architecture/Urban Planning. All of the students were in work/study this summer, in fact one of them is at Cleveland Botanical Gardens working in the Children's Garden. The student from Michigan State is in Florida at the University developing new plants. The ATI student is working on a project at the school which is to be entered for the National Competition. They are all very appreciative of the help Garden Club of Ohio is providing. Hopefully with your help we will be able to increase our awards next year. The money received each year from Clubs and individual memorials and honorariums is distributed, plus the interest from various Endowments which have been given for this purpose.
