Meet the Cleveland District Director – Marilee Zarbock

The love of gardening must be genetic.  From Dad’s fabulous tomatoes to Mom’s pride rhododendron bush, I’ve always been involved in gardening and can’t wait in the spring to get my hands into the soil.  I’m from Willoughby, Ohio in Lake County, currently reside in Euclid, Ohio, and have always lived close to Lake Erie.  Think clay soil.

Watching old movies, I’ve always been interested when garden clubs are featured, and I was excited to find out that, yes, they still exist!  Sitting next to me at a luncheon, I met a woman who had just joined Lake Shore Garden Club and she invited me to a meeting.  I was hooked.  What wonderful friends.  I’ve been a member since 2009 and recently had the privilege of serving as the club’s president.  Thank you Carol!

As a member of West Shore Arrangers, I appreciate the opportunity to study and practice floral design with such marvelous designers.   I am an NGC Accredited Flower Show Judge, and can help your club if you’d like to present a flower show to your community.  I became involved with the GCO board last year as The Girl Scout Patch Chairman, and am delighted  to begin serving the garden clubs of the Cleveland District.  I’m looking forward to meeting you, and helping you take advantage of all the great programs offered by Garden Club of Ohio.

I have a business background which includes 9 years at GE Lighting working in finance and sales, and 14 years working for a sales and marketing consulting company as their vice president, managing several areas of operations within the company.  Currently, I work at Key Bank part-time, allowing me the time to be involved with garden club and other activities.

I share my life with a wonderful man and some precious pets.  We have a large extended family; most who still live in the area, and enjoy spending time with them.  We’re involved with our local street association, and enjoy golfing, gazing through our telescope, travel, and of course, watching old movies.
